Visiting Medical Officer in Anaesthetics, Armidale Hospital


We are seeking an Anaesthetist who wishes to pursue a career in a rural environment. Come and establish yourself as a valuable contributor to both the Armidale Hospital and the broader communities of the city of Armidale and New England area.


About the job:

  • You will provide safe and effective Anaesthetic, emergency airway management, ventilation and acute pain service to patients of Armidale Rural Referral Hospital including providing support to a 5 bed HDU
  • Conduct preoperative outpatient consultancy services
  • Opportunity for conjoint appointments with Joint Medical Program, University of New England
  • You will be well supported by a team of colleagues with a good mix of experience and enthusiasm, providing mentoring and support

  1. Eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a Specialist in Anaesthetics, and possess Medicare specialist provider number
  2. Demonstrated recent clinical experience in Anaesthetics at the role delineation of the service.
  3. Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and provide leadership of a team.
  4. Demonstrated effective clinical communication through the use of information technology and written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
  5. Demonstrated commitment to teaching, continuing education, research and quality improvement.
  6. Availability to participate in an on-call roster and to respond on site within a reasonable time.
