Visiting Medical Officer in Anaesthetics, Tamworth Hospital

What this role offers you?
Come and join our Consultant Anaesthetist team of eleven Anaesthetists at Tamworth Hospital
You will provide elective and emergency theatre sessions and participate in after hours Anaesthetics on call roster
Anaesthetic services are delivered for all major surgery, with the exception of cardiac and neurological. There is also a broad mixture of paediatric and O&G cases as well as general anaesthetic exposure.
This position is ideal for candidates wishing to gain experience within a busy regional acute hospital with a broad and interested case mix.
In July 2015, Tamworth Hospital opened its new $220 million acute services redevelopment equipped with 348 treatment spaces; 8 theatre operating complex (5 in current operation)
Use your experience and knowledge and add to the department’s already vigorous education program. With a specific program for exam candidates, this is an outstanding opportunity to become involved in teaching and research projects.

Applications Close: 1 September 2019
  1. Eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a Specialist in Anaesthetics, and Medicare specialist provider number.
  2. Fellowship of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists and/or specialist recognition as provided for in the Health Insurance Act 1973.
  3. Demonstrated recent experience in providing tertiary hospital standard clinical anaesthesia for elective and emergency cases including obstetrics and trauma, as well as surgical pre-admission clinics and multidisciplinary pain management
  4. Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and provide leadership of a team.
  5. Demonstrated effective clinical communication through the use of information technology and written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
  6. Demonstrated commitment to teaching, continuing education, research and quality improvement.
  7. Availability to participate in an on-call roster and to respond on site within a reasonable time.
