Selection criteria to be addressed:
- Accepted qualifications include: • Bachelor of Social Work which provides eligibility for membership to Australian Association of Social Workers or • Degree in Psychology with full registration as a Psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia, • Bachelor degree in counselling from a recognised and accepted education provider, as deemed appropriate by the employer.
- Demonstrated ability to provide culturally appropriate, clinically advanced specialist counselling services to individuals, and families in the context of child sexual assault, trauma, violence and abuse, problematic and harmful sexualised behaviours and understand the legal and policy framework governing child protection in NSW.
- Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills in combination with a demonstrated ability to work as part of a therapeutic team and a senior management team.
- Demonstrated ability to create Aboriginal community connections, engagement, and collaboration to affect outcomes with an understanding of intergenerational trauma, child sexual abuse, contextual and causal factors for violence, abuse and neglect and the principles of cultural safety. As stated above, as this is a designated Aboriginal position applicants for this role must be of Aboriginal descent through parentage, identification as being Aboriginal and being accepted in the community as such. Exemption is claimed under section 14 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977.
- Demonstrated high level of understanding of the intersection between issues of sexual assault, domestic violence and child protection and the associated Child Protection responding and reporting responsibilities.
- Demonstrated experience participating in and/or leading of quality improvement activities, service development and evaluation.
- Demonstrated experience with developing and/or reviewing relevant VAN policies, procedures and models of care to ensure they are consumer lead, culturally safe and ensure accountability at the service, district and state level.
- Current Drivers Licence and willingness to travel across the District
