What you’ll be doing
The Unaccredited Trainee – Plastic Surgery position at St George Hospital offers valuable exposure to a broad range of complex surgical cases in a busy tertiary setting, with the opportunity to develop core skills in plastic surgery under the supervision of experienced consultants.
The Trainee will be responsible for the communication of assessment and management decisions to other staff involved in the patient's care; communication with the patient / family regarding the patient's condition and management plans; maintenance of accurate and relevant patient documentation; coordination of diagnostic tests and consultations; performing of any necessary operative procedures required for the care and treatment of such patients and arrangement of patient admission and discharge procedures.
The Trainee will attend as required, Outpatient Clinics of the Department, participate in the on-call roster, and assist in the private hospital.
Two part-time (0.5 FTE) positions are available at St George Hospital, with additional private hospital work available to create a full-time role.

Selection Criteria
- Qualifications and experience commensurate with the Essential Requirements for the role
- Previous surgical experience
- Demonstrated progress towards career goals in plastic surgery and clinical competence
- Demonstrated clinical competency; demonstrated ability to work independently within a supervised complex clinical environment utilising excellent clinical skills and judgement and expertise
- Demonstrated capacity to work within a multi-disciplinary team
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated interest in teaching and research
