Surgery - Otolaryngology ENT Trainee Unaccredited Position, Nepean Hospital
Employment Type: Temporary Full Time (02-Feb-2026 up to 2 years)
Remuneration: $97,993 - $139,187

Responsible to all ENT, Head & Neck Surgery Department Consultants for the provision of surgical services, including research, patient care and undergraduate/postgraduate teaching as appropriate to the diagnosis and treatment of surgical patients.
What you'll be doing
- Responsible for receiving calls on acute referrals from ED and within the hospital in addition to calls from neighbouring hospitals and general practitioners.
- Ward work, attendance to patients in the pre and post-operative phase.
- Attending Operating Theatre sessions.
- Preparations of patient for surgery – lead/ assist with the Time-out as per Hospital Policy, as well as the positioning of patients.
- Assisting at surgery with a consultant surgeon as required. Independent operating consistent with level of competence.
- Liaison with consultants, nursing staff and other junior doctors.
- Responsibility for teaching and supervision of interns / RMO’s and attached medical students.
- Attending Outpatients clinics.
- Participate in after hours, weekend and on-call rosters as appropriately notified.
Where you'll be working
- Nepean Hospital is a teaching hospital and a regional trauma centre serving a local population of over 300,000.
- The Emergency Department deals with a full range of surgical problems with support of a very busy Acute Surgical Unit.
- The Trainee will be responsible for receiving calls on acute referrals from the Emergency Department and within the hospital in addition to calls from neighbouring hospitals and general practitioners.

- MBBS or equivalent, currently registered with the Medical Board of Australia in an appropriate registration category.
- At least three years' postgraduate experience in public hospital service (or equivalent).
- Demonstrated clinical practice as a registered medical practitioner in the last 2 years in a setting appropriate to the needs of the position.
- Recent relevant experience in Otolaryngology surgery and pre/post surgical care.
- Successfully passed the GSSE exam.
- This position is subject to an appropriate supervision level which can be supported by the health agency. If the incumbent’s registration conditions include supervision requirements, the level of supervision must be able to be supported by the health agency for this role.
- Valid Working with Children Check, cleared National Police Check.
- To be employed by NSW Health you are required to provide evidence of vaccination to comply with the NSW Health Occupational Assessment, Screening & Vaccination against Specified Infectious Diseases Policy, this includes any amendments made from time to time.

- Qualifications and experience commensurate with the Essential Requirements for the role.
