This position would suits applicants with an interest in applying for Surgical Education and Training with the Royal
Australian College of Surgeons in the future.
The Unaccredited Surgical Trainee will provide care of General Surgery patients at Blacktown and Mount Druitt Hospitals, under the supervision of Consultant and RACS accredited trainees.
We can consider full time/Part time position and will provide after-hours support for the surgical roster, covering night, evenings and weekend shifts.

- MBBS or equivalent, currently registered with the medical board of Australia in an appropriate registration category
- Minimum of 3 years of postgraduate experience post –graduate training, including minimum of 12 months surgical experience in an Australian public hospital (not as an observer) and commitment to Surgical Education and Training with RACS.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with patients, family members and other members of the health care team.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills and ability to manage competing priorities in a complex environment.
- Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and risk management.
- Evidence of continuing professional development and commitment to self-education.
- Demonstrated competency in assessment of common surgical pathologies and relevant procedures (such as intercostal catheter insertion, line insertions, difficult catheters, abscess drainage).
- Ability and willingness to work at the facilities within the Network to deliver patient care and preparedness and ability to participate in 24-hour shift work roster.
