About the role 

The Manning Base Hospital Unaccredited Trainee within Obstetrics and Gynaecology offers committed Medical Officers interested in a future of Obstetrics and Gynaecology as part of a structured 12 month program, the opportunity to develop knowledge, skills and experience whilst providing effective medical services to patients under supervision, whilst developing expertise in medical practice, within a complex clinical environment. 

Unaccredited Trainees in Obstetrics and Gynaecology will work in a variety of inpatient and outpatient settings including inpatient ward care, birthing unit, theatres and outpatients (e.g. antenatal, postnatal and gynaecology) clinics. 

The role of Unaccredited Trainee within Obstetrics and Gynaecology is suitable for applicants wishing to obtain further training within Obstetrics and Gynaecology in preparation for an Accredited Trainee position in Obstetrics and Gynaecology on the RANZCOG Training Program. 

Participation in an on call roster is expected on an equitable basis. 

The applicant must have a commitment to rural practice and rural communities.

Taree’s, town name comes from the Aboriginal word Djarii, meaning Figtree. Taree is situated on the banks of the Manning River in the heart of the beautiful Manning Valley, Biripi Country. A spectacular meeting point of coastal beauty and hinterland wonder, the Manning Valley is a gem on the NSW North Coast. Cruise the beautiful river, swim at stunning beaches and find bushwalks, waterfalls and lookouts along the way. 

Manning Hospital consists of 180 beds and, within, provides an excellent range of other specialist inpatient services including Emergency Medicine, Palliative Care, General Medicine, Paediatrics, General Surgery, Orthopaedics, Intensive Care, Psychiatry, Renal, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Anaesthesia, Rehabilitation Services, Urology and Oncology Services to the local communities of Taree, Forster, Tuncurry and surrounding Lower Mid North Coast.  

Manning Base Hospital treats approximately 25,000 inpatients, 33,000 Emergency Department patients and 90,700 outpatients each year. 

With a population of over 90,300 and with the median age of 52 years old the Lower Mid North Coast Sector is projected to have the highest growth in the group age of 85 years and over.

  1. Qualifications commensurate with the Essential Requirements for the role, and relevant experience as outlined within Essential Requirements.
  2. Demonstrated ability to work in a multidisciplinary team, including providing leadership and direction to ensure appropriate management of patients.
  3. Demonstrated ability to work independently within a supervised complex clinical environment utilising excellent clinical skills, judgment and expertise.
  4. Demonstrated time management and problem solving skills.
  5. Demonstrated excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and computer skills.
  6. Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and risk management.
  7. Evidence of continuing professional development and commitment to self education.
