Tamworth Rural Referral Hospital is seeking a passionate Trainee to join our Anaesthesia Service in 2026!
Where you'll be working
With 348 treatment spaces and we are the major Rural Referral Hospital to the North West of NSW. We conduct over 9000 surgical procedures per annum over 5 theatre spaces; with the new facility boasting an additional 3 theatre rooms which have been built for future growth.
The Trainee in Anaesthesia will provide high-level health care to inpatients and outpatients prior to, during and after their surgery or procedure. All trainees are supervised; the level of supervision provided will be dependent upon the experience of the trainee and in accordance with ANZCA standards.
Position Requirements
- Trainees are expected to have a close, effective liaison with consultants, allowing them to demonstrate their level of ability and understanding and enabling the expansion of knowledge and responsibility.
- All patients remain under the direct care of a specialist medical practitioner and any decision regarding their care must be clearly communicated to that specialist.
- Trainees will comply with Codes of Conduct, OHS, EEO, and Bullying and Harassment and any other relevant policies and procedures.
- Trainees will work co-operatively with other staff members to ensure that duty requirements and standards are being met and maintained.
- Trainees will perform all other delegated tasks appropriately and in line with grading and capabilities.
- Trainees are expected to participate in clinical and non-clinical duties as arranged by the Director of Anaesthesia or duty specialist
Qualifications -
- MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia
- Demonstrate commitment to learning how to be an anaesthetist, including researching the requirements of anaesthetic training and preparing for work as an anaesthetic trainee.
- Demonstrate a commitment to training and working in the Hunter New England region and an awareness of the challenges faced in delivering excellent healthcare for patients in this region.
- Demonstrate evidence of being an effective collaborator, working with colleagues to deliver excellent care to patients and their families.
- Demonstrate skill in managing differences, resolving conflict and dealing with sensitive issues to continue to make safe decisions even when there is a difference of opinion.
- Demonstrate ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, professionals and the general public in both oral and written formats.
- Demonstrate a commitment to patients, the profession, colleagues and yourself and family through professional conduct, excellent organisational ability and effective time management skills.
