Where you'll be working

The Sutherland Hospital is a 375 bed Major Metropolitan Teaching Hospital affiliated with the University of NSW, located in the Sutherland Shire 25 kilometres from the Sydney CBD. A 44 bed Emergency Department which includes 3 resuscitation bays, dedicated Adult and Paediatric Fast Track areas, an 8 bed ED Short Stay Unit, a collocated Radiology Department with CT scanner. The addition of 60 new acute inpatient beds, including 6 additional ICU beds and a 16 bed General Medical Unit. There are 24hr diagnostic services and excellent support from Mental Health, ICU and community/aged care services and nursing staff. Sutherland Hospital provides a 24/7 Interventional Cardiology service. Inpatient services include most subspecialties, General Surgery, Orthopaedics, ENT, Urology, Vascular Surgery, Cardiology, Respiratory, Gastroenterology, Neurology, Oncology, Renal, Paediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Aged Care, Rehabilitation and Mental Health.

The position will be based at Sutherland Hospital within the Department of Anaesthetics. Reporting to the Director of Anaesthetics.
The Sutherland Hospital theatre complex is expanding and recently commissioned 6 new operating theatres as part of the first phase of theatre suite redevelopment. 2 additional theatres plus 2 dedicated endoscopy procedure rooms will be commissioned in the second phase. The department is currently accredited for up to 52 weeks of training by ANZCA.
