The Royal Hospital for Women is situated between the University of New South Wales and Coogee Beach.
The Royal Hospital for Women is a major tertiary public teaching hospital, servicing the eastern suburbs of Sydney and is a referral centre for obstetric, gynaecological and gynae-oncological services.

The RHW trainee in anaesthesia with a focus on the following roles:

  • Provide anaesthesia, and perioperative care, as well as pain management, resuscitation and high acuity care, within the Royal Hospital for Women.
  • To provide clinical anaesthesia services inclusive of high risk and routine obstetric anaesthesia services, elective and emergency surgical services (obstetrics, gynaecology, gynae-oncology, breast surgery).
  • To support perioperative medicine (outpatients clinics, pain management and high acuity care ward).
  • To contribute to the development of quality assurance and research, including oversight of departmental morbidity and mortality meetings, audit and clinical guideline development.
  • To be involved in patient education and the education of non-medical health care professionals.
The anaesthetic staff includes the Co-Directors of the Department, Staff Specialist, experienced Visiting Medical Officers (VMO’s), two provisional fellows and six accredited anaesthetic registrars.

Provide anaesthesia, and perioperative care, as well as pain management, resuscitation and high acuity care, within the Royal Hospital for Women.
  1. Qualifications and experience commensurate with the Essential Requirements for the role
  2. Current certification in basic and advanced cardiac life support.
  3. Advanced ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team in the planning, delivery and coordination of patient care
  4. Advanced communication skills, including the ability to convey, and adapt verbal and written information to a clinical and non-clinical audience
  5. Advanced organisational and time management skills and ability to manage competing priorities in a complex environment.
  6. Commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and risk management.
  7. Advanced ability to remain calm and act constructively when faced with high pressure situations or unpredictable environments
  8. Previous experience in and willingness to deliver undergraduate and postgraduate medical education and training.
