What you'll be doing
- Participate in the preparation of theatres before cases, cleaning and clearing theatres in between and end of cases. Removing clinical waste from the department.
- Collect and return patients from the wards safely.
- Take urgent specimens to pathology/bloods to ICU.
- Collect items from other areas of facility as instructed by nursing staff.
- Maintain patient’s trolleys in clean and tidy conditions.
- Assist with application of tourniquets, positioning of patients and transfers of patients.
- Assist nursing staff with cleaning of theatres at end of all theatre lists.
- Identify and report issues with equipment.
- Weekly ordering and distribution of stock
- Work unsupervised at various times and provide training to inexperienced porters undertaking duties in the operating theatre.

- Demonstrated skills to be able to work independently and as part of a team
- Demonstrate effective, clear and concise communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to monitor work practices, prevent security breaches and escalate breaches to immediate Line Managers
- Demonstrated ability to perform patient care activities and general assistance within operating theatre area
- Able to demonstrate the requirements to provide and ensure the health and safety of all persons in the workplace
