What you'll be doing

This position involves supporting laboratory research through technical tasks, data generation, and equipment management.

Your key responsibilities will have you:

  • Conducting laboratory investigations and technical tasks following established procedures.
  • Contributing to research data collection and manuscript generation.
  • Preparing materials and maintain lab equipment.
  • Ensuring adherence to laboratory protocols.
  • Supporting overall laboratory operations and team efforts.

Essential Criteria: 

  • Qualification: Certificate IV in Pathology or Diploma in Laboratory Technology or an equivalent qualification from a recognised tertiary institution with subjects relevant to pathology or medical laboratory operations. 

Selection Criteria:

  1. Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the area of molecular biology and/or virology, including practical laboratory experience (e.g. nucleic acid extraction, PCR, sequencing) and experience handling clinical specimens.
  2. Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment whilst working autonomously to deliver results within specified timeframes set to meet client expectations.
  3. Demonstrated ability to manage time and competing priorities.
  4. Well-developed interpersonal skills and proven effective oral and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with internal and external collaborators.
  5. Proven computer literacy skills in Windows and the Microsoft Office suite, including Word and Excel.
