What you’ll be doing:
Using innovative, evidence-based skills and interventions, you will professionally support individuals seeking assistance with alcohol and drug use. You will take a trauma-informed approach and provide respectful, person-centred care, tailored to individual’s needs. Central to your role will be employing an individualised, holistic approach to care, incorporating comprehensive care planning to address the diverse physical, emotional, and social aspects of each person’s journey.

The primary purpose of this position is to;

Provide assessments, evidence based interventions, case management and co-ordination of clinical and welfare interventions to Drug Court clients.

Provide written and oral reports for clients who remain under Court supervision throughout the program.

Support the clinical operations of Court Diversion Programs across the LHD.  

 

The Drug Court is a special court based at Liverpool which supervises the community based rehabilitation of drug dependent offenders. Once accepted onto the program, clients are provided with relevant counselling, treatment and case management services. All clients must be referred through the court.

A psychologist position in the alcohol and other drugs sector offers a challenging and rewarding specialisation. It provides the opportunity to take pride in the field, with a strong focus on human rights and intellectually stimulating work. Your contribution as a healthcare professional will have a meaningful and positive impact, which is felt at a community level.

Criteria:
Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:

  1. Tertiary qualification as a Registered Psychologist, Social Worker, Counsellor, or Welfare Officer, which provides eligibility for membership with a professional organisation and or current registration with AHPRA where applicable.
  2. Demonstrated clinical skills in assessment, case management and counselling within a drug and alcohol service.
  3. Knowledge of the harm reduction approach to drug and alcohol issues and demonstrated experience in the provision of interventions with drug dependent clients.
  4. Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as within a multidisciplinary team.
  5. High level of communication skills, including the provision of written court reports within a given timeframe.
  6. Applicants must possess an Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P2). Those who hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment. Learner's licenses are not permitted.
