What this position offers you?
You will be joining a team of five Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and work in a close-knit department which encourages collaboration and collegiate relationships across the multi-disciplinary team. This is a permanent part time opportunity (0.6FTE).

You will be seeking an opportunity to provide generalist obstetric and gynaecology services in a rural environment. The role includes inpatient and emergency consultations, outpatient gynaecology and antenatal clinics, emergency theatre lists, as well as equitable participation on the acute on-call roster. You must be able to work independently.

Tamworth Hospital has a $260 million acute services redevelopment; equipped with 348 treatment spaces; Level 4 Obstetric Unit with 1000 births per year; Level 3 nursery that provides step-down care from the NICU at John Hunter Children's Hospital; an 8 theatre operating complex (5 in current operation) and outpatient clinic centre.

  1. Eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a Specialist in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. Eligible for medicare specialist provider number for Specialist Obstetrics and Gynaecology services.
  2. Fellowship of Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (FRANZCOG) and/or other specialist recognition as provided for in the Staff Specialist (State) Award.
  3. Demonstrated recent clinical experience in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the role delineation of the service and ability to provide specialist standard clinical O&G service for elective and emergency cases, including outpatient and antenatal clinics and on call services.
  4. Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of an multidisciplinary team and provide leadership of a team.
  5. Demonstrated effective clinical communication through the use of information technology and written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
  6. Demonstrated commitment to teaching, continuing education, research and quality improvement.
  7. Availability to participate in an on-call roster and to respond on site within a reasonable time.
