Staff Specialist General Physician, Armidale Hospital

This is a fantastic opportunity for a General Physician to offer services in a rural environment as part of a well-established team of Physicians with specialty interests including Endocrinology, Nephrology, Infectious Disease, Geriatrics, Cardiology and Respiratory Medicine.

About the job:
• You will provide acute general medicine and on-call services to inpatients at Armidale Hospital, including providing support to a 5 bed HDU.
• Conduct privately referred outpatient consultancy services in your specialist interest area
• Provide outreach services to the smaller communities of the New England area
• Opportunity for conjoint appointments with Joint Medical Program, University of New England
• You will be well supported by a team of colleagues with a good mix of experience and enthusiasm, providing mentoring and support
• The team is well serviced by junior medical staff across the general medicine unit (including 4 JMO’s and 2 Trainee (BPT) positions) and is accredited for advanced training in general and acute care medicine.

You can spend more time with your family, your children can attend some of the best schools in Australia and the commute to work (10 minutes) is something people in larger cities only dream about.   1. Eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a Specialist in General Medicine, and/or overseas trained specialist pathways.
  2. Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians or specialist recognition as provided for in the Staff Specialist (State) Award.
  3. Demonstrated recent clinical experience in General Medicine at the role delineation of the service.
  4. Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and provide leadership of a team.
  5. Demonstrated effective clinical communication through the use of information technology and written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
  6. Demonstrated commitment to teaching, continuing education, research and quality improvement.
  7. Availability to participate in an on-call roster and to respond on site within a reasonable time.
