What you'll be doing
The Patient Flow Nurse Manager (PFNM) is the delegated senior nurse manager responsible for the operational management of patient flow matters in and outside of business hours. As such the PFNM manages all patient flow matters into and out of the facility at the delegation of the Deputy Director of Nursing (DDON&M) via the Patient Access and Demand Nurse Manager. Specifically, matters pertaining to the demand and capacity management of the Emergency Department, inpatient units, Critical Care Units and theatres as well as extended services and outpatient areas across the site. Outside of business hours, the PFNM works at the delegation of the AHNM and in consultation with the nominated Executive on-call.
The PFNM works a rotating roster seven days per week excluding night duty.

- Registered Nurse with current unrestricted AHPRA registration.
- Relevant post graduate tertiary qualifications or working towards same.
- Demonstrated experience and understanding of patient flow within an acute care facility.
- Demonstrated skills in leadership and management within an acute care setting.
- Demonstrated excellent communication (written and verbal), interpersonal and negotiation skills.
- Demonstrated effective problem solving, decision making, organisational and time management skills.
- Proven ability to work in an autonomous and multidisciplinary environment.
- Demonstrated understanding of the key performance indicators relevant to the Patient Flow Manager.
- Demonstrated previous management experience in an acute care facility.
