About this role
You'll be joining the largest public health system in Australia and contribute to a world-class health system in NSW.
This role will provide you with an exciting opportunity to join the Service Planning Analytics and Insights team where you can influence key areas of planning for the NSW Health system.
We are seeking a high-performing individual to join the Service Planning Analytics and Insights unit. We are a team who collaborate with Local Health Districts, Specialty Health Networks, other Ministry of Health teams and NSW Health entities in relation to statewide service planning, to support the achievement of NSW Health’s service planning and reform objectives. As a SQL Developer, you will be able to use your skills and experience in SQL, ETL, data modelling and warehousing to design, develop and support data tools and solutions designed for service planning analysis.
Crown Clerk 9/10, starting salary from $129,464 - $142,665 plus Super and annual leave loading, with a 35-hour work week, work location- 1 Reserve Road, St Leonards

What you'll be doing
Responsible for the design, development and maintenance of several data analytics applications, data marts, ETL processes, dimensions and facts, SSAS cubes and SSIS packages.
Analysis of business requirements and implementation of updates and enhancements to data marts and tools to support new datasets, data variables, and periodic data refreshes; for example, quarterly or annual updates of Tabular and Multidimensional data models).
Monitoring and maintenance of data quality and database performance by applying agreed optimisation techniques to software code, database structures and server configurations.
Development and maintenance of clear and accurate technical documentation for data analytics solutions to support ongoing use, support and knowledge sharing within the team.
Works closely with the Applications Manager and Senior SQL Developer to support the day‑to‑day operation and maintenance of data analytics applications, including responding to complex data queries and requests from end users and other team members.
About you
We are seeking motivated and committed individuals who can support the work of NSW Health with:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Information Technology, Data Analytics or a related discipline, and considerable and demonstrated software development in a complex environment is essential for this role.
- Excellent organisational skills and experience working in a high volume and demanding professional environment with a capacity to prioritise, multi-task, achieve business goals, perform and always work with a customer focused approach.
- Excellent analytical skills including the ability to analyse and interpret complex information from numerous sources, prepare and present analysis and reports, deal with challenges creatively and achieve business focused solutions
- Relevant qualifications or equivalent experience in development, implementation and maintenance of database information systems in a large and complex service environment. This includes extensive knowledge and demonstrated experience in:
o MS SQL, T-SQL Transactions and SSAS Cubes
o Data Modelling and Data Warehousing
o Data Quality, Data Administration and Performance Troubleshooting
o Source control systems such as Git - Consistently demonstrates behaviours that reinforce the CORE Values of our organisation: Collaboration, Openness, Respect and Empowerment.
