PIMHS is a specialist perinatal mental health service for parents (and their infants) with a severe, acute, or complex mental illness, or are at imminent risk of relapse/episode and who are pregnant or have a child under the age of two. This position sits within the local Adult Mental Health Team with line management and leadership support from HNELHD CAMHS CCI, Special Programs & Partnerships Manager. You will be based with Greater Newcastle Mental Health Service at James Fletcher Campus Newcastle.
About the role:
PIMHS provides time limited, intensive specialist perinatal and infant mental health support, either provided through direct patient care or consultation for a range of severe or complex perinatal mental health disorders including severe depression and/or anxiety, postpartum psychosis, bipolar affective disorder, schizophrenia, complex trauma and personality disorders. PIMHS works alongside the allocated mental health clinician and collaboratively with adult and infant/child health services to support care for both parent and infant. PIMHS has a key role in establishing key care pathways and referrals to ongoing providers in the community.
As part of our supportive team, you'll receive direct line management and guidance from the CAMHS CCI, Special Programs & Partnerships Manager and you will be working within an experienced multi-disciplinary team. Additionally, you will benefit from regular clinical supervision and access to continuous training and educational programs - all designed to enhance your professional development and ensure your success in this role.
About you:
We are seeking an emotionally intelligent, client centred, passionate and enthusiastic Senior Clinician – who has the ability to support the needs of parents and their infants who are experiencing acute mental health. Expert interpersonal relationships will be key in this role, in order to optimise care provision.
Requirements:
- Must hold a qualification in one of the following: Occupational Therapy, Clin Psychology/clin psych in training, Nursing, Social Work, Counsellor (Degree in Bachelor of Health Science Mental health, Djirruwang Program), which provides eligibility or membership of the relevant professional association general registration through the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency. For CMS2 or CNS2: relevant post-registration qualifications and at least 3 years experience working in the clinical area of a post-graduate qualification.
- Eligibility to drive in NSW and interstate and the willingness to travel in the course of employment.
