Role Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Inpatient Social Worker to join our team. 

In this role, you will work closely with healthcare professionals to deliver comprehensive social work services to our patients. Your focus will be on promoting patient well-being, advocating for their needs, and ensuring a holistic approach to care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide psychosocial assessments and interventions for patients and their families.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement patient care plans.
  • Advocate for patients' rights and access to necessary resources.
  • Facilitate discharge planning and coordinate with community services.
  • Offer emotional support and counselling to patients and their families.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to case discussions.
  • Opportunities to work across the Social Work Department to support the delivery of its services.

Bankstown-Lidcombe Hospital is located in the city of Bankstown and is in one of the most multicultural local government areas (LGA) in Australia. This hospital has tertiary affiliations with three universities and offers a range of roles and experiences to employees.

The hospital receives highly diverse presentations in ED as well as having general medical and surgical services and sub-specialty services across the hospital.   1. A Social Work degree which provides eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).
  2. Extensive post graduate experience working as a Social Worker in relevant clinical areas, including a demonstrated understanding of the health setting, complex health conditions and the impact on wellbeing.
  3. Demonstrated experience in prioritising a challenging and demanding workload; managing stressful situations; and applying advanced reasoning skills and independent professional judgement when dealing with situations of a novel or critical nature
  4. Experience working independently and collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team.
  5. Demonstrated high level communication skills (written and verbal), and demonstrated computer skills.
  6. Demonstrated experience in the provision of clinical supervision and expert advice/consultation to the social work service and the clinical specialty.
  7. Demonstrated experience in the planning, implementing, leading and evaluating of quality improvement activities involving the application of evidenced based practice within social work
