An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and qualified ED FACEM to join the medical team at South East Regional Hospital in the Bega Valley, part of the Southern NSW - Coastal Network.

Bega - 429 kilometres south of Sydney, 228 kilometres from Canberra or 174 kilometres from the NSW Snow fields. Nearby Merimbula (32 kilometres) offers a regional airport with a short 55 minute flight to Sydney and daily flights to Melbourne. With a range of quality private and public schools in the area, younger generations are also be well looked after, growing up with fantastic friendly country folk, and a huge range of outdoor activities to keep them occupied with no long commutes.

Your Opportunity:

  • Reporting to the Director of Medical Services, you will play an important role in providing specialist Emergency Medical services, be involved in the educational activities of the Department to develop a top-class education framework for medical students, junior doctors.
  • South East Regional Hospital receives rotating Basic Physician Trainees (BPTs) from the Canberra Hospital, rotating general surgical registrars from Sydney and is accredited to receive registrars from RACP, RACS, AOA, RANZCOG, RACGP, ACEM and ACRRM.
  • This role will be undertaken within an approved scope of practice and within the SNSWLHD in conjunction with other existing local Specialists.
  • Provide contemporary comprehensive specialist services for optimal patient outcomes within our sites located at Goulburn, Queanbeyan, Crookwell, Yass, Braidwood, Batemans Bay, Moruya, Bega and Cooma providing emergency care services.
  • Provide and support training to clinicians across multiple disciplines to achieve quality education and safe clinical practice.

Selection Criteria:

  1. A primary medical degree registrable with AHPRA and Fellow of the Australian College of Emergency Medicine
  2. Evidence of being a medical expert, demonstrated by recent and comprehensive experience in Emergency Medicine.
  3. Evidence of being a scholar, maintaining medical professional development and the ability to assist other staff, including trainees in the acquisition and development of knowledge.
  4. Evidence of being a skilled communicator, including both oral and written skills, communicating with patients, students, other health professionals and the public.
  5. Evidence of being a collaborator, including the ability to network and operate within an interdisciplinary framework and to work with other stakeholders in a variety of settings.



Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination against Specific Diseases

This is a Category ‘A’ position, please read and understand NSW Health policy directive PD2024_015. All new employees must agree to comply with the requirements outlined in this policy. OASV requirements also include proof of vaccination against influenza and is compulsory for NSW Staff that enter any Residential Aged Care Facility (RACF) or who work in NSW Health owned and operated RACFs.
