Southern NSWLHD comprises of four Networks - Tablelands is centred around Goulburn, Monaro centred around Queanbeyan and Cooma, the Coastal Network located in the far south-east corner of NSW, and the Integrated Care Network.
 

Where you'll be working

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and suitably qualified Anaesthetist to join the medical team at Batemans Bay and/or Moruya Hospitals in the Eurobodalla Shire, part of the Coastal Network.

The Eurobodalla Health Service is located in the Yuin Nation on the beautiful south coast of NSW. It is a networked service spread over three campuses, with two hospitals co-located with community health, Batemans Bay and Moruya, and a standalone community health centre in Narooma collocated with the library. 

The NSW Government has announced $260 million to build in Moruya, a sustainable, modern and purpose-built hospital to support the needs of the entire Eurobodalla Shire from Narooma to Batemans Bay to service the ever-growing coastal population. This new facility is expected to open to patients in 2025.

Batemans Bay Hospital is a 31 bed hospital at level 2 role delineation.  It offers the following services:

  • Emergency department
  • Inpatient acute medical provided by General Practitioners
  • Day only surgery – cataract surgery, minor orthopaedics, minor urology and gastrointestinal endoscopy
  • Subacute – inpatient palliative care and patients waiting for rehabilitation
  • Pathology collection
  • X-ray

The Moruya Hospital – is a 55 bed hospital at level 3 role delineation.  It offers the following services:

  • Emergency department
  • Inpatient acute medical care provided by General Practitioners
  • General and gynaecological surgery
  • Sub-acute - inpatient rehabilitation and palliative care
  • Maternity (antenatal care, birthing and post-natal care)
  • Hospital in The Home
  • An outreach renal dialysis satellite service as a formal network from Canberra
  • Pathology
  • X-ray, ultrasound and CT

What you will be doing
Reporting to the Director of Medical Services, you will play an important role in providing Specialist Anaesthetic Services to patients presenting to the facility.

You will use your expert clinical and management skills to provide the highest levels of care to the patients who access your service. You will balance your clinical responsibilities with developing the service and will take a leading role in clinical governance, service design projects, delivery of a top-class education framework for other medical officers.

Selection Criteria:

  1. Holds registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a Specialist in Anaesthetics, and/or overseas trained specialist pathways.
  2. Demonstrated effective clinical communication through the use of information technology and written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
  3. Demonstrated significant experience relevant to Anaesthesia practice and evidence of competence in skills relevant to Australian rural hospital practice, including trauma and emergency scenarios.
  4. Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and provide leadership of a team
  5. Demonstrated commitment to teaching, continuing education, research and quality improvement.
  6. Demonstrated commitment to behaviours which align to the NSW Health CORE values and SNSWLHD Values, goals and strategies.

Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination against Specific Diseases
This is a Category ‘A’ position, please read and understand NSW Health policy directive 
PD2023_022.  All new employees must agree to comply with the requirements outlined in this policy. OASV requirements also include proof of vaccination against influenza and is compulsory for NSW Staff that enter any Residential Aged Care Facility (RACF) or who work in NSW Health owned and operated RACFs.

All NSW Health Category A workers are required to have received at least two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine. You will be required to provide a record of your COVID-19 vaccination status if successful.
