About the Team
The New Street Service, part of NSW Health's child protection services, provides specialised early intervention for children and young people aged (10 to 17) who have demonstrated harmful sexual behaviours, but for a range of reasons, have not been criminally prosecuted. The service works with children, young people and their parents / carers to address harmful behaviour and improve safety, welfare and wellbeing. The service prioritises working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and young people and those in Out of Home Care.
Operating across two sites in Tamworth and Newcastle, our multidisciplinary team—including Senior Clinicians, Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal clinicians, and administrative staff—delivers outreach services throughout the district. About the Role
As the Service Manager, you will provide operational leadership and clinical coordination for the New Street Service across the Hunter New England region. Your responsibilities will include:

Leading and managing staff across both service sites, ensuring high-quality service delivery.

Overseeing financial, human, and physical resources in line with performance objectives.

Driving best practice approaches and implementing service improvements based on emerging research and recommendations from the Royal Commission into Institutional Child Sexual Abuse.

Ensuring cultural safety and accessibility for Aboriginal children, young people, and families.

Regularly traveling between Tamworth and Newcastle to support staff and ensure optimal service function.
This role offers the opportunity to trial innovative approaches, collaborate with a statewide network of New Street Service Managers, and engage in professional development through the Children and Young People Sexual Safety Program at Sydney Children’s Hospital Network. You will also be a key member of the District Violence, Abuse, and Neglect Leadership team.

Essential Requirements:
- Must hold relevant qualifications, professional registration or eligibility for membership to an appropriate professional body, clinical knowledge and background, with experience and high-level skills in providing therapeutic intervention (counselling) to families, children and young people who have who have been impacted by violence, abuse and neglect.
- Current unrestricted Australian drivers’ license, and a willingness to travel regularly between the two service sites (Tamworth and Newcastle) which may include overnight stays.
