About the Role

Sydney Local Health District has a long and proud history of delivering care in the community including prevention, early intervention, assessment, treatment, health maintenance and continuing care services designed to improve and support the health and wellbeing of individuals and communities. 

   

The Harm Reduction Program provides a number of services that aim to reduce the transmission of blood borne viruses. This includes the Needle and Syringe Program, which is an evidence based public health program that provides sterile injecting equipment, peer support and healthcare navigation to people who inject drugs. Additionally, the Primary Health Care service offers multidisciplinary assessment, treatment and referral for vulnerable people including those who inject drugs. 

   

Contribute as part of the senior management team to ensure the highest standards of clinical care are maintained and services are delivered across the facility in an equitable and professional manner. Support the mentoring and development of staff and provide senior clinical leadership and team management within the Social Work Department.

Ideal Candidates

  • Bachelor degree or equivalent in Social Work which provides eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers. 
  • Demonstrated advanced clinical knowledge, skill and significant clinical experience in Drug and Alcohol in the provision of Social Work services. 
  • Availability to participate in the after hours roster or call outs to SLHD hospital sites when required.
