What you'll be doing
The SRMO Geriatrics will develop skills in managing complex geriatric syndromes, especially dementia and associated behaviours, and will learn to manage end of life care.

This position is based at Coledale Hospital which specialises in aged care services for the northern Illawarra. It has a purpose-built unit for patients with a dementia illness awaiting nursing home placement. Coledale is a small pleasant sea-side village approximately 18km north of Wollongong and 60km south of Sydney.

The SRMO works with the Aged Care CMO (Coledale Hospital) in delivering patient care. The SRMO is provided support by phone on the days the SMO is not present.

This is an excellent opportunity for an SRMO who is planning to enter, or has entered, the GP training program to develop skills in managing the elderly.

Successful applicants to the role must provide certified documentation of vaccination history and pathology as part of their recruitment documentation.   1. MBBS or equivalent, current general registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
  2. At least two years working as a Medical Officer
  3. Demonstrated ability to work independently in a supervised environment
  4. Preparedness and ability to participate in after-hours, overtime and standby rosters
  5. Excellent communication skills (both written and oral)
  6. Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary framework
  7. Evidence of continued professional development and commitment to self-education
  8. A professional attitude and flexibility in work role
