Sydney Local Health District is seeking a highly motivated SRMO in Otology, and Skull base Surgery at the Ear Nose and Throat Surgery department at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital

What you will be doing:

This full time position is open to qualified candidates with a background of having completed the GSSE (surgical primaries). Also having past ENT experience most notably on-call ENT experience.

You will be involved in the day to day running of the ENT wards at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, the management of theatre lists, participating in the outpatient clinics, managing call through the emergency department as well as involved in the department as well as involved in the department’s quality and reassurance activities.      

This role will offer you opportunity to further enhance your knowledge of ENT both in research and clinical ENT in order for you to gain the experience necessary to apply for a SET trainee in otolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery. This role involves being on-call for both RPAH and Concord Hospitals.

The department of Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery at RPAH has a proud tradition of excellence in ENT care of all patients, teaching, research, and teamwork. Excellent surgical outcomes come from minimally invasive techniques such as endoscopic ear and sinus surgery, collaboration in skull base surgery with the World Class head and neck surgery team, and from a very collegiate department.

Where you will be working:

Principally you will be based at RPAH main campus, attached to the University of Sydney. You will be working along side an ENT Fellow and a final year SET trainee. You will also be part of an after hours on call roster that covers RPAH and Concord Hospital (another teaching hospital of the University of Sydney and Sydney Local Health District).

  1. MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
  2. Demonstrated commitment to getting into OHNS advanced training.
  3. Ability to prioritise, organise, meet multiple demands and effectively work as part of a team.
  4. Excellent verbal & written communication skills.
  5. Interest and ability to be involved in departmental teaching/presentation and medical student mentoring.
  6. Willingness to participate in after-hours roster.
  7. Successful completion of 3 post graduate years.
