About The Opportunity
Campbelltown Hospital is recruiting for a joint Paediatric / O&G Senior Resident Medical Officer position. Life at South Western Sydney Local Health District is rewarding, progressive and diverse and is always focused on achieving our Vision of Leading Care & Healthier Communities.
Campbelltown is a busy hospital with a large number of births and high risk patient population. The specialists are very hands on and supportive. During the day there would be at least 3 Staff Specialists covering different areas within O&G including BU, ward, and emergency/on call/ OT, EPAS and FMAU. After hours the VMOs/ staff specialists will attend handover and ward rounds. They are very approachable and supportive.
During the SRMO and unaccredited year the junior doctor would rotate through all areas including ANC, Gynae clinics, EPAS and FMAU (where ultrasound skills may be developed), caesarean lists, birthing unit, on call Gynae Reg (learn how to do D&Cs, marsupialisations). Depending on how keen the SRMO or unaccredited registrar is and whether they want to attain DRANZCOG they may be able to assist or attend gynae lists. Involvement in research and teaching of medical students from WSU as well as presenting in M&M and QA meetings (including CTG, Caesarean section and IOL meetings).

What you'll be doing
The Joint Paediatric / O&G Senior Resident Medical Officer position is suitable for applicants wishing to obtain further experience in assessment and management of Paediatric patients and in Women’s health in preparation for a career in General Practice.
Trainees have the opportunity to apply for accreditation towards training in General Practice, Sydney Child Health Program or the Certificate of Women’s Health.
This position is not accredited with the RACP so will not count towards paediatric training.
This is a 12 month full time position with 6 month rotations in Paediatrics and Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
- MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
- Post Graduate year 3 or above.
- Demonstrated commitment to relevant training program.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently within a supervised complex clinical environment utilising excellent clinical skills, judgement and expertise.
- Demonstrated excellent computer and communication skills (verbal and written) and demonstrated ability to liaise effectively with other health professionals.
- A professional attitude and flexibility in work role with a preparedness and ability to work shift work, and participate in after-hours rosters.
- Commitment to teaching junior staff and quality assurance.
