About the Opportunity
Join our dynamic team at LMCTC as a Senior Radiation Therapist Head of Planning (HOP). In this pivotal role, you will manage the radiation therapy simulation and planning services, provide leadership and supervision, and stay updated with the latest equipment and planning techniques. You will work closely with the Director of Radiation Therapy and other Assistant Directors for strategic planning.
SWSLHD Radiation Oncology Service operates over two sites (Liverpool and Campbelltown Hospitals) and consists of 3 Elekta Linacs, Orthovoltage and a Phillips CT at Campbelltown and 3 Elekta Linacs, a Tomotherapy unit, Brachytherapy, Orthovoltage, a Phillips CT and a dedicated 3T Siemens MRI at Liverpool to offer patients in the district a comprehensive Radiotherapy Service. The successful applicant will be rostered across both sites to maximise their development and meet service needs.

What You'll be Doing
The Senior Radiation Therapist Head of Planning (HOP) is responsible for the operational management of the radiation therapy simulation and planning service at Liverpool and Macarthur Cancer Therapy centres (LMCTC). HOP is responsible for providing leadership, supervision, development and research to Radiation Therapists in that area of specialty.
The HOP will maintain currency of knowledge, experience and skills in relation to the introduction and development of new equipment and techniques. In addition, the HOP will be required to liaise with the Director of Radiation Therapy and other Assistant Directors of Radiation Therapy within SWSLHD for strategic planning for the Radiation Therapy Service.
Where You'll Be Working
Liverpool Hospital, founded in 1813, is the major health service for south-western Sydney, providing services to the local government area of Liverpool City Council as well as district services to residents and visitors in the area. It also provides a range of state-wide services in areas such as critical care and trauma, neonatal intensive care and brain injury rehabilitation.
The Hospital provides a health service of international standing, with 23 operating theatres, capacity for 877 beds, diagnostic and imaging services, emergency and trauma care, maternity, paediatric, cancer care, mental health, ambulatory care, allied health and medical and surgical services from birth to aged care.
Liverpool Hospital is currently undergoing a major redevelopment. The $790 million Liverpool Health and Academic Precinct (LHAP) project will provide enhanced facilities and an increased capacity to meet future significant population growth for South Western Sydney.
Liverpool Hospital is a principal referral and teaching Hospital of the UNSW Sydney and the Western Sydney University and also welcome students from over 20 universities and colleges.

- Registered as a Radiation Therapist with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Authority (AHPRA) and hold (or be eligible for) a Radiation user licence IA13 with NSW Environment Protection Authority (NSW EPA).
- Expert in the use of 3D Treatment Planning Systems (TPS) with CT and MRI interface. Experience and proven ability to implement and provide clinical support in areas including SABR, SRS, motion management and orthovoltage/superficial planning and delivery.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, both spoken and written including the ability to clearly communicate complex issues to all levels of radiation therapy staff and the MDT team; as well as the ability to relate to patients, visitors, the various staff groups within the hospital and vendors as required
- Demonstrated leadership ability, including the capacity to promote initiative within a group, being self-motivated and self-directed to supervise, educate, train and objectively assess Radiation Therapists and student RT's in current and new practice and technologies and provide advice to remedy deficiencies in knowledge and skills.
- Leadership and knowledge of radiation therapy planning and imaging processes and provide evidence of active participation in some form of planning activities, development, auditing, etc.
- Knowledge of quality activities and CPD through associated reports, presentations, conferences, and active participation in planning interest groups, publications or workplace in-services. Awareness of new and emerging developments and evidence of implementation of new techniques/technology.
- Demonstrated effective organisational and time management skills including an ability to self-motivate and self-direct own training and learning. Including personal ongoing continuing professional development.
- Ability to understand and implement Transforming Your Experience strategies and initiatives which help the service work towards SWSLHD strategic goals and improve patient care.
