Senior Policy Officer, Child and Family, Health and Social Policy Branch

•    Part Time, Temporary (up to September 2026)
•    17.5 hour working week, in a hybrid working environment

About this role
You'll be joining the largest public health system in Australia and contribute to a world-class health system in NSW. This role will work in the Child and Family Unit, focusing on the Brighter Beginnings interagency initiative and the Sustaining NSW Families Program.

Health and Social Policy works to improve the health and wellbeing of people - now, across their life and for future generations. We develop equity focused policies and programs for the NSW Health system, including where it connects with social care.

Crown Clerk 9/10, salary from $125,693 - $138,510 p.a. (plus Super and annual leave loading)

What you'll be doing

Senior Policy Officer work with the team to: 

  • Coordinate and undertake policy development, evaluation activities and projects/programs to address current and emerging policy issues
  • Plan, implement, manage and monitor projects/programs within the portfolio to ensure outcomes and/or expectations are achieved
  • Research and evaluate policies to assess relevancy and potential impact on Ministry and Government objectives
  • Provide sound information, analysis and advice on current and emerging policy issues to support effective decision making
  • Monitor, evaluate and report on the development and/or implementation of policies to identify issues and ensure the achievement of desired outcomes
  • Prepare high quality written reports, briefs, correspondence, and cabinet documents to inform decision making or respond to agency or Government requests


About you 
We are seeking motivated and committed individuals with:

  • Demonstrated relevant, professional experience in the area of child and family health, including sustained health home visiting, and/or relevant tertiary qualifications.
  • Substantial experience in developing, analysing and evaluating policy and other projects in a multi-disciplinary or multi-agency environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse stakeholders to deliver on complex policy and program/project areas.
