We have an exciting opportunity in the ICT Procurement & Asset Management Directorate for a Senior Legal Counsel.
ICT Procurement & Asset Management deliver procurement services across a complex ICT spend portfolio within NSW Health. These services encompass commercial advice on strategy, policy and process, sourcing, contract management, supplier governance and IT asset management.
Reporting into Director, ICT Procurement & Asset Management you will be responsible for providing quality, robust and expert professional legal advice on complex or significant contract, commercial and other issues (including privacy, compliance and governance) as required to ensure that the eHealth NSW ICT Procurement & Asset Management Directorate can make sound and proper decisions. You will be working as a member of the senior leadership team in supporting the delivery of strategic and operational objectives of the ICT Procurement & Asset Management team.
Health Manager Level 6, commencing salary from $182,575 - $199,405 + 11.5% Super and Annual Leave loading

What you will do
As an integral member of the ICT Procurement & Asset Management Directorate, you will:
- Provide expert legal advice on the drafting, negotiation, and execution of ICT contracts to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and strategic objectives. Offer guidance on risk management, intellectual property rights, data protection, and dispute resolution, ensuring that all contractual arrangements align with the ICT Procurement & Asset Management Directorate's goals and the broader needs of NSW Health.
- Review policy and other proposals, to ensure liability, statutory and other obligation issues and other legal, probity and ethical issues are properly addressed.
- Assist with developing policies and procedures, templates, precedents and guidelines that relate to the provision of ICT procurement & asset management services to NSW Health.
- Liaise with senior representatives of the Health System, Ministry of Health and other government agencies on any “whole of government” legal issues affecting eHealth NSW to ensure the Health System’s particular needs and obligations are recognised.
- Manage processes to ensure the ICT Procurement team is fully supported in eHealth’s compliance with the NSW Government’s ICT Purchasing Framework
- Manage and oversee eHealth NSW engagement of external legal service providers, including counsel and legal firms and continually assess performance and value for money
- Contribute as member of the the senior leadership team of the Directorate providing recommendations and advice on strategic direction, resourcing and development needs of the team.
About you
We are seeking motivated and committed individuals with:
- Legal qualifications, admission as a legal practitioner to the Supreme Court of NSW and a current practising certificate from the NSW Law Society.
- Extensive experience in advising on ICT contracts, including drafting, negotiating, and managing commercial agreements within the ICT sector.
- Strong understanding of relevant ICT laws, regulations, and industry standards, with a focus on data protection, intellectual property, and risk management.
- Proven ability to assess and mitigate legal risks associated with ICT procurement, vendor agreements, and asset management.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to provide clear legal advice to both technical and non-technical teams.
