About the Opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity to work with a clinical team to support young people and families and to undertake community development and capacity building with local Aboriginal communities.  You will be connected to the statewide New Street network.  This clinical team covers South West Sydney, South East Sydney and Sydney local health districts.

 

What You'll be Doing
SWSLHD New Street Service is a coordinated, community based, specialist treatment service for 10-17 year olds who have engaged in harmful sexual behaviours, and is a NSW Health Child Protection initiative. This service is based within SWSLHD in the Staying Safe in the Community Directorate and offers an outreach service to SLHD and SESLHD.


The Senior Clinician has a key role in ensuring the delivery of quality, specialist services in a forensic service, provide clinical leadership and guidance in the planning, policy development and service delivery in a complex forensic clinical setting

How to Apply

  1. Relevant qualification in Bachelor of Social Work which provides eligibility for membership to Australian Association of Social Workers or Degree in Psychology (with at least 9 years' experience as a registered psychologist and a minimum of one year of service at the 9th year) with full registration as a Psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia. Completion of an Australian Psychology Accreditation Council accredited postgraduate Clinical Psychology qualification of no less than two years full time duration or recognised equivalent.
  2. Demonstrated extensive post graduate clinical (therapeutic) experience including demonstrated capacity to work therapeutically with people who have sexually abused and/or experienced abuse and postgraduate clinical practice in the area of sexual assault, violence and abuse or related.
  3. Understanding of the impact of colonisation on Aboriginal people and communities and its relationship to Aboriginal Family Violence. Demonstrated ability to effectively work with Aboriginal communities in culturally competent ways and commitment to addressing Aboriginal health and community needs.
  4. Demonstrated ability to work as a senior member of a therapeutic team
  5. Applicants must possess an Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P2). Those who hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment. Learner's licenses are not permitted.
