Excellent opportunity for an experienced Pharmacist to join a leading health care provider in Newcastle, NSW.

  • Fixed Term – Part-time (12 months, 48 hours per fortnight)
  • Salary Classification: Pharmacist Grade 3 Yr 1-2.
  • Remuneration: $66.48-$68.28 per hour + superannuation + annual leave loading + salary packaging options 

THE ROLE:

The Specialist Clinical Pharmacist at Calvary Mater Newcastle (CMN) holds a vital role in the delivery of advanced clinical pharmacy services within the Intensive Care Unit. This position is responsible for the provision of the full range of advanced clinical pharmacy services associated with the Intensive Care Unit. This will include supporting both the Intensive Care Unit and the CMN Pharmacy to achieve the aims of the quality use of medicines and evidence-based practice and to establish and maintain a positive workplace.

DUTIES:

  • Ensure clinical pharmacy services to Intensive Care are consistently delivered within professional, organisation, legal and ethical boundaries and reflective of evidence based practice and ACSQH National Standards to ensure safe, efficient and economical use of medicines.
  • Demonstrate leadership in the achievement of team and organisation goals and objectives, including planning, implementing, evaluating and report on services, to ensure optimal clinical care and team performance. Play an active role in the development of team culture and positive workplace partnerships.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Pharmacy to develop, implement and monitor key performance indicators, continuous improvement initiatives, competencies and standards for Critical Care clinical pharmacy services.
  • Develop and implement practice based research programs and undertaken medication safety activities in line with National Safety and quality Health Service Standards.

ABOUT YOU:

  • Eligible for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Agency (AHPRA) to practice as a pharmacist.
  • A minimum of three years of practicing as a registered Hospital Pharmacist.
  • Proven ability to communicate at high levels, work autonomously, use initiative and organise complex workloads with minimal direct supervision.
  • Demonstrated capacity for planning, implementing, evaluation, reporting and providing advice in clinical service delivery, practice and redesign.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated leadership capacity and ability to lead a team and build and maintain effect working relationships, and a supportive work environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead medication safety initiatives and undertake continuous quality improvement.
  • Able to work proficiently in periods of high demand and activity.
  • Demonstrated commitment to own personal and professional development.
