About the Opportunity

Fairfield Hospital, is seeking experienced and proactive individuals to join our security team.

In this vital role, you will work with clinical and non-clinical staff to ensure the safety and wellbeing of patients, visitors, and employees. Your responsibilities will include early identification and de-escalation of conflict, managing anti-social behaviour, and maintaining a secure environment in a dynamic 24/7 setting. 
A strong focus on customer service, professionalism, and adherence to work health and safety legislation is essential.

As a Security Officer, your responsibilities will include responding promptly to security and emergency alarms, conducting regular patrols, assisting with emergency evacuations, and providing excellent customer service. You will also be responsible for maintaining order within the hospital, managing parking controls, and escalating serious incidents to senior management when necessary.

Previous experience in de-escalation techniques, physical restraint (when needed), and familiarity with security protocols are highly desirable. Candidates must hold a valid Security License and be available for a 24/7 Rotating Roster.

What You'll be Doing

Security staff work as part of a team, in collaboration with other staff, to assist with managing patients, to provide assistance to visitors, and to assist with protecting staff and securing the assets of South Western Sydney Local Health District.

The emphasis of the role in NSW Health is on assisting with the early identification, prevention and management of incidents.  The Security staff provide a safe environment for staff, patients and visitors according to work health and safety legislation.  
It is expected that security staff provide the highest possible standard of customer service and professionalism at all times.

NOTE: Security staff, like other NSW Health staff, must contact the police if there is suspected criminal activity on or around a NSW Health premises. Security staff must not place themselves, or be expected by others to place themselves, at unnecessary risk in carrying out their duties. Where there are concerns about public safety the police should be called. Security Master License Number for SWSLHD: 410572116

  1. Current NSW Security Licence in accordance with the NSW Security Industry 1997 Class 1A, First Aid Certification and an Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P2). Those who hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment. Learner's licenses are not permitted.
