What you'll be doing
The Clinical Trial Start-Up Officer will support the Clinical Trial Start Up Manager, SCHN Investigators, Collaborators and network research staff in the establishment of clinical trials being conducted within the Clinical Research Centres. The incumbent will facilitate study start up activities under management direction to ensure that SCHN is competitively placed to attract cutting-edge research opportunities and will support best practice in clinical research start-up.
 
The incumbent will liaise with Clinical Trial Start Up Manager, Sponsors, Investigators, Collaborators and their Teams (including both Internal and External parties) to ensure effective communication, escalation and execution in the performance of start-up tasks to key performance indicators of timeframe, budget, quality and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) compliance.    
 
Day-to-day tasks may include, but are not limited to, research engagement opportunities, feasibility assessments, budgets and contractual negotiations, the preparation of ethics and regulatory submissions for initial and ongoing substantial amendments, and the development/delivery of training materials/content. The incumbent will be required to utilise the Clinical Trial Management System, and other research data systems, to track project progress, manage documents and facilitate invoicing.
  1. Relevant tertiary qualifications in a relevant field, or equivalent work experience with study start up or clinical trial management in a clinical research environment, or a combination of study and work experience.
  2. Demonstrated knowledge of legislation and guidelines for conducting clinical trials in Australia and experience in obtaining and maintaining ethics and governance approvals
  3. Demonstrated ability to exercise autonomy and initiative in relation to day-to-day problem solving, communication and decision making
  4. Demonstrated ability to meet clinical trial study start up deadlines in light of competing research and priorities.
  5. Strong computer skills and willingness to utilise existing and new systems for clinical trials project management and data.
  6. Ability to work independently and collaboratively, and take a consultative approach to ensure delivery of complex tasks to meet pre-defined time, budget and quality targets
  7. Interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills in liaising with a variety of stakeholders/audiences.
  8. Project, time and workload management skills with demonstrated ability to prioritise, have attention to detail, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines in a highly paced environment
