What you'll be doing
The Clinical Nurse Consultant in Adolescent Medicine will provide expert clinical care and education to children, adolescents and their families within the SCHN Gender Service.

The Department of Adolescent Medicine provides specialist services for adolescents and their families in a number of clinical areas including;  clinics for complex and chronic illness, self management, Eating Disorders, Gender Services (for trans and gender diverse children and adolescents), Gynaecology service, Drug and Alcohol service and  Youth Arts and Peer support programs.
The role of the CNC in Adolescent Medicine also provides Network wide leadership , training and  consultation expertise  for ward based nurses caring for children, adolescents  and their families 

In collaboration and consultation with key stakeholders, the CNC will undertake primary responsibility for on-going education, development and evaluation of clinical practice in particular for trans and gender diverse children and adolescents. 
  1. Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and a minimum of 5 years full time post qualification experience, with at least three years full time equivalent experience in the specialty field of Paediatrics, Adolescent Health or experience in Gender Services.
  2. Relevant approved post registration qualification in field of practice at Master’s level or working towards or such other qualifications or experience deemed appropriate by the public hospital or public health organisation.
  3. Proven clinical leadership skills and ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary framework with a demonstrated commitment to excellence in nursing practice.
  4. Demonstrated high level communication and inter- personal skills.
  5. Proven ability to implement changes and develop direction in clinical practice by the utilisation of evidence based research.
  6. Demonstrated skills in strategic and clinical service planning and including an understanding of organisational behaviour, change management and cultural changes processes.
  7. Demonstrated competency in the use of contemporary information systems and clinical teaching and development of specialty education programs.
  8. Demonstrated provision of a child, adolescent and family centred consultancy with the ability to work independently.
