About Us

At Hunter New England Local Health District, we offer rewarding careers enriched by meaningful work and breathtaking locations. Our team is dedicated to improving health outcomes for rural communities every day.  The Rural Adversity Mental Health Program (RAMHP) is a state-wide initiative designed to strengthen regional, rural, and remote communities through mental health promotion, prevention, and early intervention strategies. RAMHP walks beside individuals, helping them navigate referral pathways and engage with appropriate support services. Our coordinators play a critical role in responding to adversity, working alongside key partners, and providing direct assistance in Recovery Centres and Mobile Outreach.

About the Role

As a RAMHP Coordinator, your role will be dynamic, focusing on four key program pillars:

  • Linking individuals to services – Identifying and connecting people with appropriate mental health support
  • Education and training delivery – Providing high-quality mental health training to community groups and workplaces (e.g., first responders, volunteer agencies, vets, and land services staff).
  • Stakeholder collaboration – Partnering with organisations to develop flexible responses to priority groups and emerging mental health challenges (e.g., Vinnies NSW, DPI Rural Recovery Support Officers, Red Cross).
  • Community awareness and engagement – Disseminating mental health resources via the RAMHP website, newsletters, interagency networks, and social media.

You will work alongside four other RAMHP Coordinators within Hunter New England Health and collaborate closely with the Manning Mental Health Service. A comprehensive orientation program will be provided through both HNELHD and Grand Pacific Health.
