What you'll be doing
The Allied Health Assistant will work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team, under the direction and supervision of physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech pathologists, and child life therapists. The AHA will provide clinical interventions designed to assist clients to reach patient centred goals and maximise their potential. Patients that are seen through this service include those who have acquired brain injury, spinal cord injury, or have diagnosis of cerebral palsy, or other neurological conditions.
Other duties involve assisting with general tidiness and maintenance within the rehabilitation department and other administration and clinical tasks to support the rehabilitation allied health professionals and service.
Allied Health Assists can reach different levels within the Allied Health Assistant Award. These levels include level one, two or three which is determined by credentials and years of experience.
- Allied Health Assistant Certificate 4 or equivalent professional qualifications or working towards.
- Understanding WH&S requirements of the role and physical ability to move / transfer clients & equipment safely
- Experience working with children and families. Experience working with people with cognitive behavioural and or physical disability in a hospital or healthcare environment
- Ability to work independently and within a team and ability to work under instruction. Please demonstrate your skills and experience in these.
- Proven ability to prioritise number of competing demands/tasks & manage time effectively & efficiently. Please demonstrate your skills and experience in these.
- Highly effective interpersonal and written communication skills and computer literacy. Please demonstrate your skills and experience in these.
- Current driver’s license with a proven excellent driving record.
