About the role:
A typical day is never the same, with the variety of tasks constantly shifting. You'll care for a wide range of patients, including those in general medical, post-surgical, and palliative care, working across both the acute ward and emergency department. This role requires critical thinking as you assess and provide care for emergency presentations.
Ideal candidates will be eager to learn new skills, demonstrate strong leadership, and have the ability to direct a team when needed. A passion for hands-on nursing care is essential, as well as a willingness to upskill. Onsite training is available through visiting Clinical Nurse Educators (CNEs), along with paid education days provided by other facilities within the Hunter New England Local Health District.
The successful applicant will be supported in this role by onsite orientation, personalised education plans with the CNE, visiting onsite CNE and access to district CNE's as needed. Close relationships are developed with our neighbouring site of Scone with staff having the opportunity to periodically work in Scone to develop and maintain clinical skills. You will be given an opportunity to have a 30 day and 60 day conversation with your manager and yearly performance reviews in line with the Hunter New England Local Health District policies.
Where you’ll be working:
Wilson Memorial Hospital is situated in the charming rural town of Murrurundi, which is located in the Upper Hunter region of NSW, approximately 190km north-west of Newcastle and 300km north of Sydney.
