Blue Mountains District ANZAC Memorial Hospital is an acute hospital that supports a population of approximately 80,000 and is the only ANZAC Memorial hospital remaining in NSW. Easily accessible to Sydney residents, our team of clinicians, allied health, and support staff works with the community on a shared goal to maintain the delivery of high-quality healthcare in the Blue Mountains region.

Our Maternity Unit in Katoomba is growing and we're currently looking to hire a full time temporary Registered Midwife up until 29 May 2026. You will strive to ensure optimal outcomes for women and their families through the promotion of best practice including the appropriate escalation of care. You will be required to work collaboratively utilising effective team communication with members of the multidisciplinary health team in the planning, implementation, assessment and evaluation of patient care. 

Your role as Registered Midwife will see you act as an advocate for the specific needs of all women and their families including those from the indigenous population or other multi-cultural groups providing appropriate care to the woman undergoing specialised procedures as well as maintain and promote a professional standard evidenced by ethical midwifery practice, adherence to the policies and procedures of the Nursing and Midwifery Service, NMBLHD and the appropriate legislation and statutory regulations.

What you will bring to the role

  1. Current registration to practice as a Registered Midwife with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Authority (AHPRA)
  2. Demonstrated recent experience and clinical skill in midwifery
  3. Demonstrated ability to organise and prioritise work
  4. Demonstrated evidence of being able to provide woman centred care within a multidisciplinary team environment
  5. Demonstrated effective communication skills – written and verbal
  6. Ability to work a flexible roster, day, evening or night shift across all days of the week according to the unit/service requirements
  7. Available to undertake rotation to Nepean Birth Unit for 4 weeks each year
  8. Current Driver's Licence and willingness to use for work purpose travel
