About the Role
You will be based at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. It is one of the nation’s most respected hospitals, with a distinguished history of serving the health needs of local, statewide, national and international communities. Our facilities and services are world class and our staff are dedicated, innovative and caring.
This role is a Permanent Birthing Services position, working in a busy Level 6 Tertiary Referral Birthing Unit. The role will include intrapartum care including operative birth, complex antenatal care and immediate postnatal care. Employees are supported to develop advanced clinical skills including venepuncture and cannulation, speculum, and perineal repair, and are supported by a Clinical Midwifery Educator and Clinical Resource Midwives. The service is supported by a Midwifery Unit Manager 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.

Ideal Candidate
- Current midwifery registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA).
- Understanding of evidence informed practice and critical thinking.
- Recent Birthing Unit experience,
- Effective interpersonal skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills within a multidisciplinary team.
- Evidence of participation in own professional development and commitment to maintaining competence and enhancement of skills, and willingness to apply and share professional expertise with colleagues.
- Ability to work a 7 day rotating roster is required, employees can elect to work a 12 hour roster or 8/10 hour roster.
