About the Opportunity

Liverpool Hospital is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Midwife to join our friendly, team-focused group. With a positive vibe and supportive environment, our new purpose built Birthing Unit. is the perfect place to thrive.

Applicants with at least one year of experience is preferred.

Birthing Unit midwives now have the opportunity to work 12 hour shifts. This is optional, and midwives may still work 8 hour shifts if they prefer.

We are about to commence the global Practical Obstetric Multi-Professional Training program (iPROMPT) for our midwives. This is a program where midwives and doctors receive knowledge and practical skills in obstetric emergency situations. We now have midwives and doctors who are trained to facilitate and run this very valuable program.

What You'll be Doing

The midwife is a responsible and accountable professional who works in partnership with women to give the necessary support, care and advice during pregnancy, labour and the postpartum period, to conduct births on the midwife's own responsibility and to provide care for the newborn and the infant.

This position may entail rotating through various clinical areas such as, Birthing Unit, Post/Antenatal Ward, Special Care Nursery and Antenatal Clinic.

Where You'll Be Working:

  • Liverpool Hospital, founded in 1813, is the major health service for south-western Sydney, providing services to the local government area of Liverpool City Council as well as district services to residents and visitors in the area. It also provides a range of state-wide services in areas such as critical care and trauma, neonatal intensive care and brain injury rehabilitation.
  • The Hospital provides a health service of international standing, with 23 operating theatres, capacity for 877 beds, diagnostic and imaging services, emergency and trauma care, maternity, paediatric, cancer care, mental health, ambulatory care, allied health and medical and surgical services from birth to aged care. 
  • Liverpool Hospital is currently undergoing a major redevelopment. The $790 million Liverpool Health and Academic Precinct (LHAP) project will provide enhanced facilities and an increased capacity to meet future significant population growth for South Western Sydney.
  • Liverpool Hospital is a principal referral and teaching Hospital of the UNSW Sydney and the Western Sydney University and also welcome students from over 20 universities and colleges.
  • Located in the heart of Liverpool City, the hospital is close to public transport, shopping centres and eateries.
