Shoalhaven Hospital's Maternity Services offers an exciting opportunity for Registered Midwives to join our All Risk Midwifery Group Practice (MGP) team. Shoalhaven Hospital provides a Level 3 Maternity Service, with approximately 800 births per year, alongside a 12-bed Children’s Ward and a 6-bed Special Care Nursery.

The MGP midwife will work in a small team of midwives providing caseload continuity of care to 38 women per year. You will practice a wide range of midwifery skills while being part of a close-knit, welcoming community. Our small, supportive department fosters a fun and positive team culture that values professional, personal, and career development. The position will involve participating and negotiating on call rosters within the MGP team including weekend “on-call” shifts and associated travel within the Shoalhaven Hospital catchment area.

The Shoalhaven Hospital catchment area extends from Gerringong in the north to South Durras in the south. This position will be based in the south and predominately do clinics and home visits in the Ulladulla and Milton area. Applicants must be willing to work and travel to this area.

Midwifery care will encompass antenatal, labour, birth and postnatal care. The MGP midwife will provide intrapartum care in the Birth Unit at Shoalhaven Hospital. Midwives are supported to gain competency in advanced clinical skills including venepuncture/ cannulation, speculum examination, perineal repair, and CAWN newborn assessments.

Mileage reimbursement is applicable to this position through NSW Policy. Remuneration aligns with the Pilot Model Annualised Salary Agreement for Midwifery Group Practices within the hospital.

Shoalhaven Hospital, located on Yuin Country, is the main acute care hospital for the Shoalhaven region, providing emergency care, medical, surgical and orthopaedic services. The hospital has an Intensive Care Unit focusing on high dependency and coronary patients, Children’s Ward and Maternity Unit, as well as a purpose-built regional Cancer Care Centre and sub-acute Mental Health Unit.
