About the role:

Our radiographers deliver patient-centred clinical advice to patients, carers, and healthcare professionals, supporting excellence in patient care. Clinical advice and care are provided in line with each practitioner’s training, experience, recognised qualifications, and credentialing agreed with the Chief Radiographer. We liaise closely with other care providers to ensure a seamless continuum of care from hospital to community, meeting the needs of patients and carers. Radiographers participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance service delivery and patient outcomes and support the development and use of innovative clinical practice models.

We also provide a weekly outreach service to Wee Waa Hospital (approximately 40 km away), with shifts on a rotating roster. A hospital vehicle is provided for travel to and from Wee Waa.

Narrabri Hospital has a modern, well equipped medical imaging department providing our rural community with access to X-ray, CT, OPG and ultrasound services. As a rural radiographer you will work in a small, friendly team that provides support but also encourages autonomy. The department operates Monday to Friday, 8:00 am–4:30 pm, with administrative support during these hours. Our roster includes four radiographers, with typically three on duty at a time due to part-time team members. The on-call roster is shared among radiographers, providing overnight and weekend coverage averaging one weekend per month. After-hours X-ray and CT services are available.

We work in a close knit team where you will collaborate daily with the multi-disciplinary team of doctors, nurses and allied health team members to provide a high level of patient care.

About you:

  • Exceptional communication skills across all levels. this includes explaining procedures to patients with clarity and empathy.
  • The ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team - be a team player and be willing to pitch in across the department when needed.
  • Being adaptable to change with sound clinical judgement for prioritising urgent cases.

Support will be offered to new graduates with on site CT training and on call service provision. 

Requirements:

  • Degree in Medical Radiation Science (Diagnostic Radiography) or equivalent.
  • Eligible for registration with Australian Health Professionals Registration Authority (AHPRA), hold current NSW EPA Radiation licence.

Additional Information:

  • To be eligible for employment in this position you must be an Australian Citizen, or permanent resident of Australia, or a New Zealand citizen with a current New Zealand Passport, or hold an appropriate visa that allows you to live and work in Australia. Employment of a temporary visa holder will only be offered in line with the conditions and expiry date of your visa.
