About the Opportunity
Are you passionate about supporting young people? The Youth Health Services (YHS) is seeking dedicated Psychologist’s to make a meaningful impact on the lives of marginalised and vulnerable youth aged 12 to 24. In this vital role, you will provide counselling services and case management, offering early, therapeutic intervention in a non-judgmental, supportive, and developmentally appropriate manner.
This is more than just a job—it's a chance to help shape the futures of young people who need it most. You’ll work closely with a multidisciplinary team that includes social workers, psychologists, registered nurses, health education officers, and Aboriginal Health Workers. Your role will involve direct client contact, where you'll assess, formulate, and treat young people facing psychosocial challenges.
With our in-reach/outreach model, you'll engage with clients in their own environments, ensuring services are accessible and relevant. Additionally, you'll collaborate with government and non-government organisations to promote positive outcomes for the youth you serve.
We have a position available in Fairfield, with outreach across South Western Sydney as needed.
What You'll Be Doing:
As a YHS Counsellor, your key responsibilities will include:
- Delivering evidence-based psychological assessments and interventions for young people with a range of emotional and behavioural issues.
- Contributing to the evaluation of clinical outcomes and supporting the development of new and innovative models of care
- Supervising and mentoring psychologists and other healthcare professionals to enhance service delivery across the local health district.
- Facilitating client-centred, trauma-informed care in a way that meets the diverse needs of at-risk youth.
You’ll play a critical role in ensuring that services are both accessible and responsive, empowering young people to take charge of their health and well-being.

- Full registration as a Psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia and Completion of a four-year sequence of accredited undergraduate study in the discipline of psychology (or equivalent completed overseas).
- Demonstrated effective experience in assessment, intervention and evaluation of clinical outcomes with diverse patient and/or consumer populations.
- Demonstrated experience working independently in the provision of patient/consumer-focused care.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the quality improvement process for service development, implementation and evaluation.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team to accomplish service goals and improved patient and/or consumer care and outcomes.
- Demonstrated high level verbal and written communication skills with the ability to adapt communication style to suit the target audience.
- Applicants must possess an Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P2). Those who hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment. Learner's licenses are not permitted.
