Junior Medical Officer


The Provisional Fellow Radiology (Unaccredited) is involved in high quality practice as a radiologist in the principles and practice of consultative medical imaging.

This position would also suit an international medical graduate (IMG) who has undergone RANZCR assessment under the Specialist recognition pathway and deemed to be partially or substantially comparable requiring additional Australian experience, these candidates would be eligible to apply and appropriate documentation from RANZCR would be required.

What you'll be doing

  • Checking patients attending for Medical Imaging service, including taking a history and performing any relevant physical examination.
  • Assessing prior imaging as to relevance and findings.
  • Assisting with patient management relevant to the requested study.
  • Assisting in reporting in various modalities (X-rays, US, CT ad MRI), and participating in the Departmental teaching and education program.
  • Assisting with triaging of request forms, and where relevant, speaking with referrers.
  • Participating in research, peer review and audit projects.
  • Participating in after-hours overtime and on-call rosters.

Where you'll be working

  • Nepean Hospital has 24 hour on site general radiology and CT cover with an on site radiographer, radiology Trainees and on call consultants.

Essential requirements
  • MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia in an appropriate registration category.
  • Applicants who are not currently registered with the Medical Board of Australia must meet English language skills registration standard (medical) and attach evidence of this to their application.
  • Demonstrated clinical practice as a registered medical practitioner in the last 2 years in a setting appropriate to the needs of the position.
  • An Advanced Trainee who has completed the RANZCR training program and may have completed some or all of the RANZCR examinations, an Advanced Trainee waiting to be accepted as a Fellow to RANZCR or an International Medical Graduate assessed by RANZCR as partially or substantially comparable.
  • This position is subject to an appropriate supervision level which can be supported by the health agency. If the incumbent’s registration conditions include supervision requirements, the level of supervision must be able to be supported by the health agency for this role.
  • Valid Working with Children Check, cleared National Police Check.
  • To be employed by NSW Health you are required to provide evidence of vaccination to comply with the NSW Health Occupational Assessment, Screening & Vaccination against Specified Infectious Diseases Policy, this includes any amendments made from time to time.

  1. Qualifications and experience commensurate with the Essential Requirements for the role.
  2. Demonstrated ability to work independently within a supervised complex clinical environment utilising excellent clinical skills, judgment and expertise.
  3. Adept ability to work collaboratively within multi-disciplinary teams, including the sharing of appropriate information internally and externally with key persons or services.
  4. Advanced verbal, written and interpersonal skills, with the capacity to vary communication style in line with the understanding of the needs of diverse audiences.
  5. Demonstrated ability to prioritise workloads and display a flexible approach to meet changing situations in a demanding and unpredictable clinical environment.
  6. Demonstrated commitment to continuing professional development and self-education.
  7. Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and risk management.
  8. Current Driver's Licence and willingness to use for work purpose travel or the capability to travel as required.
