What you’ll be doing

Work as a Provisional Fellow at St George Hospital, a tertiary teaching institution with considerable liver surgery experience and the most established Peritonectomy service in Australia.

 

As a Provisional Fellow in the Liver /Peritonectomy Unit you will have clinical, educational, procedural, administrative and research responsibilities. The position will have access to and be expected to be involved in caseloads at the public hospital.

St George Hospital and Health Services is an accredited, principal teaching hospital of the University of New South Wales. It is the largest hospital within South Eastern Sydney Local Health District with 627 inpatient beds. St George Hospital is a Level 1 Trauma Centre and a leading centre for trauma and emergency management in NSW. The hospital’s proximity to Sydney airport makes it a vital service providing first response to the airport precinct.

The hospital is in Kogarah, 14 kilometres south of the Sydney CBD. It is well serviced by buses, trains and major roads. Selection Criteria

  1. MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia in an appropriate registration category.
  2. FRACS or equivalent.
  3. Sufficient skills, knowledge and experience to practice as a safe and competent surgeon
  4. Teamwork and leadership skills
  5. Excellent time management and organisational skills
  6. Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills
  7. Experience in teaching both undergraduate & postgraduate students
  8. Moderate computer skills
