What you'll be doing
We host a busy HSCT and cellular therapy service, and perform MUD and haploidentical transplants for high grade haematological malignancy as well as primary immunodeficiency syndromes. We are the national referral centre for autoimmune autologous transplant (MS and scleroderma), and participate in autoimmune and solid organ malignancy CART cells trials.
The duties and responsibilities of the position will include:
- Provision of clinical services to BMT and cellular therapy patients and donors in the outpatients (and inpatient) setting.
- Conduct regular clinics for pre and post-translant and cellular therapy patients in the Kinghorn Cancer Centre
- Involvement in the clinical trials unit - recruit, consent and follow up patients in BMT and cellular therapy clinical trials
- Assist in maintenance of quality accreditation for JACIE-FACT, CIBMTR and EBMT through data capture, audits, and participation in regular BMT quality meetings
- Assume a leadership role, specifically in terms of leading and mentoring junior staff and advanced trainees, and participating in hospital-wide teaching and education
- Involvement in clinical/laboratory research projects for presentation at local or international meetings
- Assistance with ward or registrar cover during periods of leave
- Travel alongside a haematology consultant to attend a rural/regional clinic once every 2-3 months
- No regular afterhours/overtime haematology roster commitments (although opportunities available on request)

We support to the Murrumbidgee Health district including remote specialist clinics at Wagga Wagga and Griffith Base hospitals. We specialise in heart/lung transplantation; bone marrow transplantation; cardiology; neurosurgery, cancer; clinical genomics, HIV medicine; palliative care, respiratory medicine; mental health; and drug and alcohol services, aged psychiatry, homeless health and prisoner health.
- MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia
- Completion of Part 1 requirements for Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and College of Pathologists & demonstrated initiative during Advanced training
- Demonstrated ability to manage a project (For example research, quality assurance) & demonstrated ability in basic research skills; literature review; critical thinking; data collection; data analysis and reporting.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently within a supervised complex clinical environment utilising excellent clinical skills, judgment and expertise
- Demonstrated organisational skills, good time management skills and capacity for self-directed learning
