Sydney Local Health District is seeking a highly motivated Provisional Fellow to join the Vascular Surgery Team at Concord Hospital
What you will be doing:
This position is open to qualified candidates who have experience in Vascular Surgery. You will be involved in the care and management of vascular surgery inpatients as well as attend vascular surgery outpatient clinics. This is a great opportunity for you to enhance your vascular surgery skills and take on a leadership role within the Department. As an experienced trainee, you will be expected to perform more advanced vascular surgical techniques in a well supervised and supportive environment.
There will also be the opportunity to enhance your research skills, undertake peer review and audit projects and deliver research presentations.
This role is an ideal for those who have either completed Vascular surgical training or are in their final year, transitioning to a consultant role.
The Department of Vascular Surgery
The Vascular Surgery Department is a tertiary referral centre for vascular surgery. The Vascular unit works collaboratively with other key teams including the vascular geriatrics service, high risk foot and wound clinics. The Concord Institute of Academic Surgery supports research and quality improvement programs in vascular surgery including supervision of higher degrees in research. You will also have the opportunity to participate in Concord Hospital's Surgical Early Education and Development (SEED) mentoring program for unaccredited surgical trainees.
Vascular services include:
• Upper and lower limb revascularisation
• Leg ulcer management
• Diabetes-related foot disease management and surgery
• Repair of Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (Open or Endoluminal)
• Carotid surgery
• Renal Access surgery and maintenance
• Varicose Vein management including endovenous therapy
• Amputation

Concord Repatriation General Hospital is a principal referral facility and a teaching hospital of the University of Sydney. We offer a comprehensive range of specialty and sub-specialty services, many recognised nationally and internationally as Centre’s of excellence. Major services include colorectal and laparoscopic surgery, gastroenterology, geriatrics and rehabilitation medicine, bone and joint services, cancer services, haematology, respiratory medicine and sleep studies, molecular biology and genetics, and those provided through the internationally acknowledged Statewide Burns Service, in which Concord plays a major part. Concord Hospital maintains string links to the veteran community. the Concord Institute of Academic Surgery provides support for surgical research and education.

- MBBS or equivalent medical qualification, with current registration or eligibility for registration with the Medical Board of Australia. Completion of, or current enrolment in, the final year of accredited training with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS) in Vascular Surgery, or recent certification as a Vascular Surgeon. A minimum of six (6) years full-time postgraduate medical experience, with demonstrated clinical competence and excellence in Vascular Surgery. Possession of relevant fellowship qualifications and experience appropriate to the scope and complexity of the role.
- Qualifications and experience commensurate with the essential requirements of the role, including previous clinical experience in Vascular Surgery.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently within a supervised complex clinical environment utilising excellent clinical skills, judgement and expertise.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Demonstrated high level communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Skills in time management, prioritisation and problem solving.
- Commitment to own continuing professional development and self-education and commitment to quality improvement and patient safety.
- Demonstrated interest in teaching and research in vascular surgery.
