What you'll be doing
The provisional fellow-obstetrics position that will be responsible for the care of patients under the supervision of Visiting Medical Officers, Staff Specialists and Academic Staff. The trainees will oversee the organization, ongoing education and performance of the junior medical staff. There will be opportunities to enhance skills in high risk obstetrics, benign gynaecology and obstetric and gynaecological imaging.
The clinical duties of the position include working in ‘high risk’ antenatal clinics, the delivery ward and the Obstetric Day Assessment Unit. There is a focus on supporting and supervising junior medical staff. Administrative responsibilities include assisting with the organisation of elective caesareans and the Obstetric Morbidity and Mortality meetings and Maternity Service Improvement Meeting. There will be opportunity to develop further skills in obstetric and gynaecological ultrasound, high risk obstetrics, and general gynaecology. There may be a requirement to attend clinics and/or gynaecology operating lists at more than one hospital within Sydney Local Health District.

- MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
- Full APHRA registration.
- Have successfully passed both written and oral examinations for the Fellowship of RANZCOG (FRANZCOG) specialist training program.
- Minimum of 4 years training in the RANZCOG ITP program with at least 2 years training in a tertiary referral hospital with level V neonatal facilities.
- Ability to communicate with women and their families.
- Ability to work as part of a medical team.
- Ability to take responsibility and initiative and administrative experience or talent.
- Interest and ability to partake in teaching program and ability to conduct research or a quality assurance program.
