The positions are available to Advanced Trainees of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) in Paediatrics, Adult Medicine or equivalent recognised colleges in Australasia or overseas. These positions can be recognised for Advanced Training in Clinical Genetics. Successful applicants will be involved in paediatric, prenatal, adult and specialty outpatient genetics clinics, multidisciplinary meetings and inpatient consultations. Genetics Fellows participate in activities of the NSW Clinical Genetics inter-campus educational programs. Participation in teaching other junior staff is encouraged. Opportunities exist for some clinical research within these positions, subject to availability. The position provides Advanced Trainees with immersive, supported learning of the basic principles of clinical genetics, syndrome diagnosis, genetic testing, counselling and ethical issues relevant to both clinical genetics and broader practice. It will provide the applicant with a unique opportunity to become familiar with the application and interpretation of new genomic testing techniques, increasing in importance for most areas of medical practice with the ongoing integration of genomics into both specialty and mainstream medical care.
