The Provisional Fellow position in Paediatric Sleep Medicine at The Children's Hospital at Westmead for the 2026 Clinical Year, from 02 February 2026 to 31 January 2027. The position is accredited for advanced training and would be suitable for a candidate interested in a career in general or subspecialty training.


This Paediatric Sleep Medicine Provisional Fellow position at The Children's Hospital at Westmead (CHW), is within The Sydney Children's Hospitals Network (SCHN), and qualifies for the Sleep Medicine Training Curriculum with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP). The position provides an opportunity for Advanced Training in Sleep Medicine so applicants should be registered as a trainee with the RACP before commencing this position. Qualifying in Sleep Medicine can take two years in some cases, so this one year position may not complete the full training requirement for sleep medicine for all trainees - applicants should check the guidelines of their relevant College subdivision.

Selection Criteria:

  1. MBBS or equivalent, currently registered with the Medical Board of Australia in an appropriate registration category.

  2. Registered with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) as an Advanced Trainee or equivalent. Those registered with the RACP, must have preferably completed a minimum 6 months as an Advanced Trainee with RACP (or equivalent) at commencement of Fellowship.

  3. 6 months experience in relevant subspecialty or equivalent. Please detail relevant experience.

  4. Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and risk management.

  5. Excellent communication, leadership and teamwork skills with demonstrated ability to liaise effectively with other health professionals.

  6. Ongoing commitment to further education and professional development and demonstrated ability to teach, with a willingness to participate in the teaching of Medical Students, Junior Medical Staff and other clinical staff.

  7. Understanding of research methodology or research experience and a willingness to undertake research proposal.

  8. Demonstrated ability to work independently within a supervised complex clinical environment utilising excellent time management, problem solving skills, clinical skills, judgment and expertise.
